The Comenius Assistants Programme is an EU trainee teacher placement to help participants improve their language skills and gain an insight into another European education system.
Comenius Assistants receive grants to work in schools and colleges across Europe for 12 to 16 hours per week. Placements are flexible from 13 to 45 weeks. Tasks include assisting in classroom teaching, supporting pupils’ group work, participating in project-based teaching, teaching their mother tongue and providing information on their own country.
Applicants must be UK nationals or native level English speakers from of one of the other participating countries ordinarily resident in the UK. Under some circumstances other nationalities may also be eligible. Applicants should be studying towards a teaching qualification.
Placements can be made in all the countries of the EU and their dependent territories around the world and in a handful of other countries with strong EU links such as Switzerland and Norway and EU candidates Turkey and Croatia.
The 2012 application deadline is Jan 31.
