The Safari Park Volunteer Initiative where we spent a few days last year helping out as volunteers has begun a new programme focused on training the adolescent lions, tigers and leopards in its care.
Within minutes of arriving at Didim’s inaugural camel wrestling festival the fists started flying. Anyone familiar with wrestling will know that a wrestler may not hit their opponent with a closed fist and camels don’t have fists anyway.
Volunteer at the world famous Bronx Zoo and you will be helping out a worthwhile institution, get a lovely warm fuzzy feeling and to hug a grizzly bear.
The previous night had been spent in the hostel garden with a chap called Rick experimenting with the effects of a bottle of SangSom ‘Thai Whisky’ on the brain and body. Rick had been travelling for seven years and had collected enough tales in that time to merit a second bottle and - once the shops had shut - a visit to the hostel bar.
