Nine years ago today I was snoring face down in my lunch in preparation for boarding the flight home to the UK. After 364 days on the road our trip ended in a drunken slumber outside a Bangkok restaurant.
Ancient or modern, film, books, arts, religious, comedy, beer or music, today is festival day. Somewhere in the world a town or city is celebrating one of the many thousands of events that make up the social fabric of the varied communities that inhabit this planet.
Both a beautiful and lively city, it is well worth spending more than just a few days in Cusco. Though they exist to help the poor and vulnerable of the city, the numerous NGOs in Cusco can also help to provide a niche to travellers looking to stay longer in the former capital of the lost Incan Empire.

This is the first issue of JAB produced on the move, using I-net cafes. After a few days in Lima, JAB moved down the coast to Pisco, and over the Andes to Nazca before renting an apartment in Cusco with a view of the mountains.
