#TravelTuesday: A Totally Impractical Guide to Living in Shanghai

Tagline: Notes from over there.

Begun on a whim under the uncompetitive domain name of Ephemera and Detritus and a leading search term for ‘Cairo whorehouse*’, this blog is clearly more than a guide to Shanghai – practical or otherwise. Covering expat life in general, visiting home, trips to Burma and Sri Lanka and, more importantly, the thoughts and feelings of the author. Posts are proudly long but not rambling and with a prolific diary writer at the helm many, I sense, would be written regardless of whether there was an audience beyond immediate family.

Wow. You’ve really done your research- I think you know more about my blog than I do… I think I need to Google Alexa, page rank and peer index… I’m still trying to figure out what Klout is used for, exactly. It’s probably a good thing I make my living from teaching rather than blogging!

    • The Working Traveller  says:

It’s clear from Impractical Shanghai that teaching is a good background to bring to blogging. I think Klout and Alexa are for boasting purposes?

And, if it makes you feel better, the only people in the world not on Facebook are me and those naked guys living in the Amazon rainforest that throw spears at passing airplanes.

  • MaryAnne  says:

Oh! And I should add that I’ve got a Facebook page just for the blog now, but only 95 people Like it at the moment (in other words, um, it’s rather impractical too): https://www.facebook.com/TotallyImpractical
