Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travel Grants for 2011

No qualifications are required to grab one of the hundred or so travel fellowships awarded each year in memory of Sir Winston Churchill.

The grants, averaging £5,600, cover all travel expenses, food, accommodation and insurance for four to 12 weeks.  They are awarded to British citizens to study areas of topical and personal interest for the benefit of their profession or community.

To be awarded a grant for 2011, your employment or personal interests must be along the lines of the following categories:

  • Science, Engineering, Technology & Communication
  • The Arts, Crafts & Music
  • Business, Industry & Commerce
  • Education & Training
  • Environment, Food & Rural Affairs
  • Medical, Health & Social Services
  • Exploration, Adventure & Sport
  • Professions & the Public Services
  • Citizen & Civil Society
  • Open Category

Churchill himself travelled extensively including to Cuba, the USA, Canada, Spain, Egypt, Morocco, India, Sudan, South Africa, France and Belgium.

The closing date for applications is early October 2010 and travel must take place between April 2011 and February 2012.
